“Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.” – Ernestine Ulmer

Waited in line for about 45 minutes to get a free cupcake from the newly opened Georgetown Cupcake. The cashier recommend either the pumpkin spice or the salted caramel, but truthfully neither of them looked that good, so I went with my go-to flavor of red velvet. The cupcakery had pink balloons everywhere and a giant bird made out of cupcakes. And the co-founders Katherine and Sophie were there for photo-ops! But alas, I still have my old school cell, no smart phone for me. Yet.

I was pretty hungry so the cupcake tasted great.  But if I hadn’t been craving sweets I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. The frosting didn’t have enough of a cream cheese flavor and the cake itself was too dense. And the heart was merely decorative and tasted bland. Pay $2.75 for this? No way!

Took an old blanket I borrowed indefinitely from an unnamed airline and sewed on a hood.

This blanket was previously used as a supervillain costume.

There wasn’t much fabric left so it looked kind of sad. If I had had more time I probably would have added more flair to the hood and made a corset too.

Lots of other creative DIY costumes at this party.

These heads were left behind at a Goodwill and rescued from garbage dump oblivion to get their 5 seconds of fame onstage.

Been subbing for an adorable 2nd grade class for the last two weeks. The students get super excited when I let them use the colored pencils instead of their usual crayons.

We explored how to tell time, and other useful skills, during our morning math meetings.

Public school lunches are pretty hard to swallow, but I’ll eat a free meal anytime. On Friday we celebrated October birthdays with a cupcake party! I used to get my sugar highs in college by eating frosting straight from the can, so this was a nice afternoon delight.
